“Tribal Voices: Cooperative Strategies for Responsible Gambling.”

Employees from the Chickasaw, Cherokee, Muscogee Creek and Choctaw Nation’s gaming commission/compliance departments generated ideas on improving services to assist problem gambling.

The Coalition of Advocates Coffee Chat was held at the state capital on Thursday March 23, 2017 from 7:30 – 9:30 am. A special “thank you” is extended to all of the Representatives, Senators, and staff that stopped by and grabbed a quick snack.

CREOKS Training…47 staff members, including case managers, peer support, and professional counselors from the CREOKS organization attended the 30-hour Problem Gambling Basic Training in Tulsa.

IAMNDN Youth Council earned 1st place honors at the Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair held at the Sam Noble Museum on the University of Oklahoma campus. Preparations are now being finalized for the 3rd IAMNDN Annual Multimedia Camp upcoming June 5 – 9, 2017. The camp is a partnership between IAMNDN, Comanche Nation, and OAPCG. The week-long camp encourages creative expression through song, artwork, and Native American crafts; as well as teaching a preventative message on the dangers and consequences of substance abuse and problem gambling. OAPCG held it’s 11th Annual Statewide Conference on Problem Gambling on Friday, March 3rd at the Chickasaw Nation Training Center in Newcastle, OK.

Featured speakers included Mr. Jeff Beck, Mr. Jerry Bauerkemper, Mrs. Raquel Ramos, Dr. David Ledgerwood, and Dr. Wiley Harwell.
