SMART PLAY OK

Established in November 2019, the goal of Smart Play OK is to unite the 33 tribes operating 143 gambling facilities across Oklahoma under a common responsible gambling platform. Smart Play OK was developed through Tribal Voices, a collaborative grassroots effort between the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association (OIGA), the Oklahoma Association on Problem Gambling and Gaming (OAPGG), and a representation of tribal and casino employees.

PRINT MATERIAL

Smart Play OK resources include a variety of print material designed in house by OAPGG staff. The package includes an 11 by 17 poster, a door decal to be placed at all casino entrances notifying customers that the gambling facility promotes responsible gambling, and a trifold pamphlet to be placed strategically throughout the casino. These are provided a no charge.

BILLBOARDS

After 15 years of legalized gambling, Oklahoma had its first responsible gambling digital billboard, designed in house by OAPGG and displayed courtesy of the Chickasaw Nation in downtown Oklahoma City just blocks from the state capital at the corner of NW 23rd and I-235. A second billboard courtesy of the Chickasaw Nation was located on I-35 near Thackerville, home to the world’s largest casino Winstar. Other billboards are courtesy of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation (I-40 and Hwy 102 by the Firelake Grand Hotel & Casino, Shawnee) and Choctaw Nation (Highway 75 entering from Texas).

TRAINING VIDEOS

Tribal Voices has also developed the 3-step intervention approach: recognize, connect, and call to action. A new Smart Play OK casino employee training video, filmed at Riverwind Casino, features this approach to problem gambling and includes the experiences of casino employees.
